Summary via Goodreads:

Sadie White's summer job isn't going to be on the beach life-guarding or working at rental booths like most kids her age. With her single mother's increasing pregnancy and refusal to work, Sadie has to take over her mother's job as a domestic servant for one of the wealthy summer families on a nearby island.

When the family arrives at their summer getaway, Sadie is surprised to learn that the owner of the house is Jax Stone, one of the hottest teen rockers in the world. If Sadie hadn't spent her life raising her mother and taking care of the house she might have been normal enough to be excited about working for a rock star.

Even though Sadie isn't impressed by Jax's fame, he is drawn to her. Everything about Sadie fascinates Jax but he fights his attraction. Relationship's never work in his world and as badly as he wants Sadie, he believes she deserves more. By the end of the summer, Jax discovers he can't breathe without Sadie.

But can their love overcome the disparity in their lifestyles? Or will they have to learn how to without each other breathe again?

Missy’s take -

I can honestly say that I completely adored every single thing about this book. The setting, the story line and the amazing characters. Abbi did such a wonderful job of pulling me into the story and never letting me go.

Sadie has had to grow up ridiculously fast. Her mom, Jessica, moves on from guy to guy and from city to city. They never stay in one place for long. Sadie and her mom eventually end up in Alabama. Her mom is working as hired help at a mansion and one day, since she is pregnant, decides that she just can’t go anymore. Since Sadie has always had to be the responsible one, she takes it upon herself to fill her mothers job position so they don’t lose out on the money. She has no idea what she is in store for.

Sadie ends up working for Jax, a young rockstar. He has a house out in Alabama that he escapes to to get away from all the craziness that comes with a life of being famous. He and Sadie meet and they are instantly attracted to one another. While I am generally not a very big fan of insta love, I adored it in this book. It was wonderful and fitting and it made me smile A LOT. Sadie is an underdog. A sweet, independent and slightly clueless teenage girl. She has the world on her shoulders, but Jax makes her have fun. She knows that once the summer is over he will be out of her life, but she is willing to take that risk and so is he.

I loved so many of the characters in this book. Jax was charming and sweet. He is a rockstar, but is a completely grounded one. Marcus works and goes to school with Sadie. He is completely smitten with Sadie, but she unfortunately doesn’t feel the same for him. He is her shoulder to cry on and pretty much her best friend. He genuinely cares for her. He wants her to be happy, but he is so worried about her being heartbroken when the summer ends. He gets very upset with Jax for putting her in the position she is in. It was definitely easy to fall in love with him! He was, by far, one of my favorite characters in the book and, from what Abbi has mentioned, Marcus may just get a book of his own.
This makes me ridiculously happy.

Even though this was a lot about the romance that blossoms between Sadie and Jax, it is also about all the trials and tribulations that Sadie has to go through in her life. She doesn’t get to be a normal teenager. She takes care of her mother as if the tables were turned. Jessica is completely oblivious at how to be an adult, much less a mother. Sadie has to work her butt off to keep them afloat and hide bill money from her mom so she doesn’t go off and blow it.

Overall I loved this book! It was a sweet YA love story. It is just about any teenage girls dream to have a rockstar or famous person fall in love with them. Sadie gets to live that that dream. If you are looking for a sweet romance then I highly recommend this one. It made me smile so many times out of the sheer sweetness of it all. I can’t wait for the other wonderful books that Abbi has in store for us!
